At Fit For Life we believe that proper nutrition is an absolutely critical and key component (along with exercise and movement) to achieving your goals in any weight loss and fitness journey. 

While your group sessions or personal training sessions can help you burn calories and build muscle, it's what you eat that ultimately determines your success. We’ve all heard the saying that weight loss, fitness, or abs are built in the kitchen, and it’s true. Without proper nutrition - including not eating enough, you might struggle to see progress and might even jeopardise your progress.


WHY IS NUTRITION IMPORTANT WHEN LOSING WEIGHT?

While you’re doing that here are a few of our favourite tips - it is important to not over-eat, it is just as important not to under fuel and with this, at Fit For Life we believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition, and what works for one person may not work for another. 

However, we do believe that there are some general principles that apply to most people trying to lose weight, generally get fit, strong or take things to the next level. More on these below, however they include:

  1. focusing on whole foods and unprocessed foods;

  2. controlling portion sizes; and 

  3. Keeping a close eye on your added sugars and unhealthy fats.

There is no magic nutrition plan that will suit everybody, after all - we’re all different, and have our own favourite foods, process food differently and enjoy eating at different times of the day and night. 

Like we touched on above, we focus on building you a nutrition plan around the general principles that can help you create a healthy and effective nutrition habit that works with you to achieve your fitness goals and keeps you full. 

When looking at a nutrition plan, we are dialled in on:

  • Focusing on whole, unprocessed foods: These types of foods are often more nutrient-dense and filling, which can help you feel satisfied and stay on track with your weight loss goals.

  • Limiting added sugars and unhealthy fats: These types of ingredients can contribute to weight gain and increase your risk of chronic diseases.
