Carbohydrates get a bad wrap when talking about weight loss. When someone wants to lose weight, the first food they tend to eliminate are carbs.. but carbs are essential in the body for energy.

Instead of eliminating all carbs when trying to lose body weight, focus on cutting back of simple sugar carbs such as sweets, baked good, soft drinks, desserts and refined carbs like white bread. Just by cutting back on those foods, you will already being decreasing your total calorie intake which can lead to weight loss.

It is important to keep the right carbs in your nutrition for energy and bodily functions. These carbs include grains like oats, rice, pasta and wholegrain bread, vegetables and fruit.

To add to any weight loss efforts, timing your carbs around your workouts can also improve body composition. This means eating majority of your carbs pre workout and post workout. Eating them during these times will allow your body to use them as energy while working out and energy replacement post workout.
