When I first met Laura I had neglected my health for several decades and was not particularly active. My diet was over-indulgent and my lifestyle sedentary with my weight ballooning to almost 150kg. Recognising the need for change and with the encouragement of my best friends I made a commitment to hike in the Himalayas through Nepal. In preparation for this new challenge I embarked on an initial 12 week weight loss challenge under the guidance of Laura. Over the course of those first 12 weeks Laura introduced me to the fitness life, helped improve my lifestyle and in the process I lost over 20kg. With this positive momentum I continued working closely with Laura for the next six months in the lead up to my hike eventually losing over 50kg. Walking through the Himalayas for two weeks at altitudes of up to 5,500m was something that would never have been possible before I met Laura. What's more, I was able to enjoy the experience so much more due to my improved fitness levels. It opened my eyes to what was possible and has motivated me to maintain an active lifestyle so that I can continue to enjoy similar experiences in the future. 

My new active lifestyle also helped me to meet my future wife Nicole. During my personal training sessions with Laura her life coach skills helped improve my confidence. Without her encouragement and support my wedding later this year may never have been possible. Nicole and I are both grateful for Laura's part in bringing us together changing both of our lives. 

Laura taught me the essential elements to healthy weight loss; put simply energy consumed versus energy burned. She gave me the tools to understand the food I was consuming and how it was impacting my health. These tools will forever allow me to control my weight through the consideration of nutritional value and portion size. There's still always room for some compromise as long as you compensate for it somewhere. Diet is only half the equation with exercise the true mechanism to making your body function as it should. 

Laura's genuine approach and encouraging training style make her hard to resist. Her sessions always cater for all abilities and I finish every session feeling satisfied yet eager for the next. Most importantly Laura keeps me accountable, not through punishment for my wrongs but by the friendly reminders of what I have set out to achieve and the encouragement to push through my boundaries even when I feel spent. It's not just me though, just ask any one of the Fit for Life community she has built over the years. The loyalty and commitment of the Fit for Life family is born from the knowledge that we're all here to help each other smash our goals and then make some new ones!
